Roundup: Cougars fall in 5 to Tunstall

Patrick County’s volleyball squad fell to Tunstall in five games on Tuesday.
Patrick County won the first and third games, 25-16 and 25-23, but Tunstall won the other three, 25-20, 25-12 and 15-12.
Leading the Lady Cougars was Kylene Culler with 11 kills, 13 blocks and 12 digs. Hannah Helbert had 17 service points and eight kills, and Casey Bradshaw added eight service points, five aces and 32 assists.
PCHS (13-7 overall, 4-4 Piedmont District) is off until the district tournament next week.
Webb leads Longwood to 5th in tourney
KITTY HAWK, N.C. — Longwood University shot a final round of 289 Tuesday in men’s golf for a 36-hole score of 593 (304-289) to finish fifth place among 14 teams Tuesday at the Seascape Intercollegiate hosted by Old Dominion University at the Seascape Golf Links in Kitty Hawk, N.C.
ODU won its own event with its 298-286 — 584 at the 6,131-yard, par 70 layout, while the host Monarchs’ Eric Onesi took medalist honors with his 69-67--136.
Longwood was led by senior Adam Webb, a Ridgeway native and Magna Vista graduate. Webb shot 76-70 —146 for a ninth-place tie in the field of 73 golfers.
Piedmont Pride sets tryouts
Piedmont Pride girls AAU basketball will hold tryouts for the coming season on Nov. 7-8.
Both tryouts will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at Carlisle School.
The team is open for girls 11 and younger (born in 1997 or after). New atheletes must bring a copy of their birth certificate.
