Martinsville School Board special meeting: council chambers, City Municipal Building. Agenda: Closed session at 3:30 p.m. on discussion and consideration of the evaluation, employment, assignment and reassignment of employees of the Martinsville Schools. Meeting at 4 p.m. on the efficiency review and 2010-11 school budget workshop.
Horsepasture Ruritan Club regular meeting: 7 p.m. at the Ruritan building.
Mount Olivet Ruritan Club regular meeting: 6 p.m. at the Ruritan building. The speaker will be Susan Allarren, owner of Tackfully Teamed Riding Academy.
Sixth Grade Parent SOL Night at Laurel Park Middle School: 6:30 p.m. This meeting with parents is to ensure that students are successful in end-of-the-year testing. Statewide material and achievement from state data for math, English and social studies will be reviewed.
Seniors in The Know meeting at Spencer-Penn Centre. At 10 a.m., “Tax Issues Affecting Seniors” will be discussed by Creed Taylor of Taylor Tax and Business Services. First of three Core Sharp Logger classes hosted by the Virginia Cooperative Extension in Patrick County: noon to 6 p.m. at Reynolds Homestead, Critz. Fifth annual MS Auction to benefit the MS Walk, at the Historic John D. Bassett School (now EMI Imaging). The doors will open at 5 p.m. The auction will start at 6 p.m. with Todd Haynes, auctioneer. Numerous furniture/household items, packages, tickets, services, etc. will be auctioned. Food will be available.
