Friday, June 1

Miche bingo to benefit the Blue Ridge Bobcats, a traveling baseball team, at Horsepasture Ruritan Building. Doors open at 6 p.m.; play begins at 7 p.m. Packets are $25 for 60 chances to win; one coverall; and three door prize tickets. Concessions will be available.

Uptown Farmers Market open from 7-11 a.m. with lettuce, beets, radishes, onions and more. Also, the market offers baked goods, seafood, eggs, plants and jams. The market is open from 7-11 a.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Fraternal Order of Police, Patrick Henry Lodge 73 monthly breakfast/meeting: 8 a.m. at the Sirloin House. Drawings for the Husqvarna products for the “Cops & Kids” fundraiser will be held. All members of law enforcement, active/retired, and their families are encouraged to attend.

Stuart Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. until noon. Fresh fruits and vegetables from local producers; homemade baked items; crafts; meats, fresh eggs and pork available. EBT accepted.

Saturday, June 2

The Henry County Food Pantry will hold a free community event from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to honor Bassett High School teachers who taught before 1979 at John D. Bassett High School, now EMI Imaging. Pat Ross, director of the Bassett Historical Center, also will be honored. There will be music, free food, kids’ activities, a car and motorcycle cruise-in, tours of the former school, a 50/50 drawing, door prizes and a women’s self-defense class. The food pantry is in the former school building.

Fifth annual Hogs for Dogs (cats, too) Charity Ride to benefit the SPCA of Martinsville and Henry County. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the SPCA at 132 Joseph Martin Highway. Dan River Basin Association’s First Saturday Outing for a 6-mile float on the Dan River from Hanging Rock State Park to Moratock Park in Stokes County, N.C.
