Emergency staff praised
Friday, September 13, 2013
Our first responders are often not given the credit they deserve for fulfilling their everyday duties. I know it is part of their job description to protect and serve the community and respond to dangerous situations, but you don’t realize the danger they put themselves into. Think about what they do; really put yourself in their shoes and look at what they do through their eyes. Firefighters, police officers and emergency medical technicians have all decided to put themselves in harm’s way and face enormous challenges by responding to dangerous incidents.
So on behalf of myself and many other citizens of Henry County and Martinsville, I would like to personally thank those individuals who responded in a quick and precise manner when my daughter’s vehicle suddenly burst into flames. This tragic event could have been much worse if the first responders had not acted as quickly as they did and managed to suppress the fire, therefore limiting the spread throughout the nearby wooded area.
Those personnel who risk their lives on a daily basis deserve our utmost respect. The next time you see a responder, just walk up to them and say, “Thank you for what you do.”
