Terry Yates, 39, of Martinsville, was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., for injuries he sustained in the crash, the release stated.

Yates was in fair condition at the hospital late Sunday afternoon, according to a nursing supervisor there.

The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Kings Mountain Road (Route 174) one-tenth of a mile east of U.S. 220 business in Henry County, the release stated.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1994 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Route 174 when it allegedly crossed the center line and collided with a 2001 Nissan Xterra head on, according to the release.
