Naylene Law Kirby and Michael L. Kirby, who were married on Nov. 23, 1990, had a renewal of vows wedding ceremony at Galilean House of Worship on their 23rd anniversary. Dr. Michael Penn performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ethel L. Joyce of Martinsville. She is the granddaughter of the late Susie Bell Law, John L. Law, Maggie B. Lampkins and Vasco Lampkins.

The bridegroom is the son of Lillian Kirby of Martinsville and the late Leroy Kirby. He is the grandson of the late Elroy and Flossie Kirby and Obbie and Bertha Gravely.

The couple and their children, Latitia, Erica and Michael, live in Martinsville.

The bride was escorted by her son. She wore a purple and white strapless silk mermaid-style gown with a cathedral-length train. She carried a bouquet of purple and white roses with silver accents and ribbon.

Maid of honor was Latitia Kirby, who wore a purple satin strapless gown. The matron of honor was Vanessa Hairston of Axton, who wore a purple and black satin and lace mermaid-style gown. They carried bouquets of purple, black and white roses with ribbon.

Bridesmaids were Tinnika Woods of Collinsville; Erica Kirby; cousin of the bride Yashima Mclaughlin of Charlotte, N.C.; sister of the bridegroom Sharon Ramos of Collinsville; cousin of the bride Tammel Tinsley of Martinsville; Chandra Hodge and Tiffany Clark, both of Martinsville; and cousin of the bride Alexis Tinsley of Martinsville. They wore purple strapless satin gowns and carried bouquets of purple, black and white roses with ribbon.

Flower girls were cousins of the bride Gionna Valentine, daughter of Kristen Brown and Reshawn Valentine, and Sariyah Millner, daughter of Princess Millner of Martinsville.

Best men were Donald Hairston of Axton and James Cooper of Fieldale.

Groomsmen were Jason Gravely, cousin of the bridegroom, Gabriel Hagwood, Cecil Brown Jr., cousin of the bride, Amiel France, cousin of the bride, Thad Tinsley and Lloyd Hairston, all of Martinsville; James Thompson of Ruffin, N.C.; and Robert Ramos of Collinsville, brother-in-law of the bridegroom.

Ring bearer was Ethan Woods, son of Eric and Tinnika Woods of Collinsville.

A reception was held at the Spencer-Penn Centre.

A program of wedding music was performed by Anthony Porter of Martinsville, who played organ and sang; and singers Candace Penn of Lynchburg, Bishop Marcus Daniels of Greensboro, N.C., and the bride.

The couple took a honeymoon in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

The bride is a 1992 graduate of Martinsville High School and a graduate of NCBT. She is employee by IBM Corp.

The bridegroom-elect is a 1989 graduate of Martinsville High School. He is employed by Anchor Group Home.

Prior to the ceremony, the couple had a rehearsal dinner on Nov. 22 at the church.
