Editorial: Trade show a success once again
Sunday, March 9, 2014
Did you learn last week how the Henry County Schools are using technology in the classroom? Did you try something new from a local restaurant or food service? Maybe you adopted a new pet.
If so, chances are good you went to Fast Track 2014, the trade show organized by the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce.
This was the 20th year of the expo and by all accounts, it was as successful as its predecessors. Thousands of people visited the show to learn more about their community, see their friends and neighbors, and take part in one of the most successful events held here each year.
Especially critical to staging this year’s show was the help of George Lester of The Lester Group in finding a suitable site when the show’s previous location no longer was available. The Lester Group owns the building that housed the show last year, and it helped the chamber put the expo in another of its buildings nearby. The new site was praised by exhibitors and guests alike for having wider aisles and being on the first floor, among other things.
Fast Track’s success results from the commitment of many groups and individuals. The local chamber of commerce is committed to putting on a quality event. Exhibitors are committed to creating fresh, interesting displays that will appeal to people even if they come year after year. And area residents appear committed to supporting the trade show and area businesses and organizations.
Fast Track reminds everyone that there is a lot happening locally, and a lot to be proud of. We applaud everyone involved with its success.
