TUESDAY

BOYS SOCCER

Tunstall 4,

Patrick County 1

Tunstall improved to 2-1 overall on the season with a victory over visiting Patrick County on Tuesday.

After scoring just two goals in splitting their first two games this season, the Trojans’ offense came to life in the victory.

Bryson Fields got Tunstall on the board with a 25-foot shot following a short pass from Jake Searcy with 16 minutes remaining in the first half.

With just under six minutes remaining in the half, Austin Canavan crossed to Searcy, who caught the left net from 12 feet out.

The Cougars logged their lone goal early in the second half when Andrew Bentacourt ran through a loose fifty-fifty ball, fired to the far post and got a bounce off the right upright.

Josh Fowlkes made it 3-1 when his header off Searcy’s long free kick caught the lower part of the crossbar with just under five minutes remaining. Searcy completed the scoring when he took Chase Hawkins’ short pass to the middle and quickly fired before the defenders could close.

Jonathan West finished with six goalie saves and three defensive stops. The defensive line was led by Bryson Fields with nine tackles and clears, Kyle Davis with eight and Grayson Cooke with seven. At midfield, Jordan Sollenberger and Hunter Sollenberger added five each.
