Commonwealth Crossing Business Centre is attracting attention from prospective companies even though the grading project there is seven months from completion.

The industrial park is “on the radar screen for three or four major projects,” Mark Heath, president/chief executive officer of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp., (EDC) said last week.

To fluoridate or not: That is the question

“To add fluoride, or not to add fluoride” could have been Hamlet’s question had he been the head of a city water department — or at least a city council member — instead of a prince.

Responding to concerns about potential ill effects of fluoridated water that city residents voiced during recent meetings, Martinsville City Council hopes to answer that question once and for all during an upcoming session.

After a tumultuous eight months that put Virginia under a spotlight over the handling of sexual assault on college campuses, a state task force released a list of 21 recommendations Thursday designed to boost prevention efforts, make victims feel safer coming forward, increase coordination with law enforcement and put the commonwealth at the forefront of a national push for reform.
