First-time visitors at Fast Track 2015 were impressed by the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce’s annual trade show, which opened Tuesday with exhibits by about 135 area businesses and organizations.

People who stop by Blue Ridge Village’s booth at Fast Track 2015 initially may think they are talking to a NASCAR pit crew rather than the staff of a rehabilitation and long-term care center.

No medical equipment is in sight. Instead, the booth has a rolling tool cart, racing tires and gasoline canisters. A large Richard Childress Racing poster is hung up. Race cars made out of wood are mounted on a small downhill track.

Netanyahu warns of 'bad deal' with Iran

WASHINGTON — In a direct challenge to the White House, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood before Congress on Tuesday and bluntly warned the U.S. that an emerging nuclear agreement with Iran “paves Iran’s path to the bomb.” President Barack Obama pushed back sternly, saying the U.S. would never sign such a deal and Netanyahu was offering no useful alternative.

Carlisle senior gets scholarship worth $150,000

Carlisle School senior Cameron Aaron has received a three-year Advanced Designee Army ROTC Scholarship worth, with related stipends, about $150,000 over the duration.

Aaron signed a contract to accept the scholarship Tuesday at Carlisle.
