14 indictments unsealed in county

Six more people were named in 14 indictments unsealed Monday that were handed down March 16 by a Henry County Circuit Court grand jury.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt. It is a grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial.

Stanley seeking new term

Twentieth District Sen. William M. “Bill” Stanley Jr., R-Glade Hill, is seeking re-election, he announced Monday.

Stanley, who serves as majority whip in the Virginia Senate, has filed more than twice the number of signatures required to qualify for the ballot under Virginia law, his office said in a news release. Stanley has secured the Republican Party nomination to run in the Nov. 3 election, the release added.
