A little more than a week after she was last heard from, Shelly Gravely’s body was found early Saturday in a ravine in southwestern Henry County.

A Patrick Springs man is being held on $1 million bond in connection with the case.

Obama actions praised
By some Hispanic residents in area

For some members of the Hispanic community living in the Martinsville area, President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration were an answer to prayer, an occasion for shedding tears and expressing joy.

“We are very thankful to the president ... for taking this action,” said Tony Lopez, pastor of the largely Hispanic Iglesia Cristiana Agape church in Collinsville.

“I think it’s good,” said Jamie Herrera, pastor of Casa de Alabanza, an Hispanic church in Ridgeway. “I think it’s very good for everybody. It’s good for the country.”

Guilty plea is entered
To rescue squad embezzlement

A former lifetime member of the Ridgeway District Volunteer Rescue Squad pleaded guilty Friday to embezzling a total of more than $4,000 from the squad.

Susan Smith, 44, of 246 Country Haven Drive, Ridgeway, pleaded guilty in Henry County Circuit Court to three felony counts of embezzlement (grand larceny).
