A devoted father and avid dancer, Walker Pollard passed away on November 21, 2012 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Walker was born in Martinsville, Virginia in 1950 to George Pollard, Sr. of King William, Virginia and Jessie Lee Ansley Pollard of Birmingham, Alabama.
He is survived by brother George Pollard, Jr. of Kathmandu, Nepal, and daughter Suzanne Pollard of Silver Spring, Maryland, the daughter of Maureen Pollard of Arlington, Virginia. After graduating from Martinsville High School, Walker attended Virginia Tech where he received a BS in business and an MA and PhD in economics. He spent his career first as a professor of economics and later as an International Economist for the federal government. He was an integral member of the contra, Cajun, and zydeco dance communities in DC for over 20 years.
A memorial service will be held for Walker on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at 3pm at the Annex to the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park.
