Spectacular Baked Spaghetti
Contributed by: Louise Schoolfield
  • 8 lbs. ground beef
  • 2 lbs. hot Italian sausage (links or ground)
  • 2 large green peppers
  • 5 medium onions
  • 1â„3 cup Italian seasoning
  • 1â„3 cup oregano
  • 1â„3 cup garlic powder
  • 3 TBS seasoned salt
  • 2 large jars of traditional pasta sauce
  • 1 large jar of tomato, garlic and onion pasta sauce
  • 2 large boxes spaghetti
  • 2 large bags mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
In a frying pan, cook the ground beef, sausage, peppers, onions, Italian seasoning, oregano, garlic powder and seasoned salt over medium heat until browned; drain.
Pour the pasta sauces into a large mixing bowl and add the cooked meat mixture; mix well. Cook the spaghetti according to package directions and drain.
In a large baking pan, place half the spaghetti and top with half the meat mixture and sprinkle with one bag of cheese. Repeat the layers one more time, topping with the other bag of cheese. Bake for 30-45 minutes or until light brown. Be careful not to overcook the spaghetti or the dish will become dry. This will feed 35 to 40 people.
