  • 1 cup sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 4 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 2 cups peanut butter
  • for the frosting
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 TBS milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
For the cookies, combine sugar, corn syrup and salt; heat until the sugar is dissolved. Do not boil. Blend in the peanut butter. Pour over cereal in a bowl and mix. Spread mixture into a 9-by-13-inch baking pan.
For the frosting, melt the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan; remove from heat.
Add milk and vanilla and stir in powdered sugar. Beat until smooth and spread on cereal bars. Refrigerate before serving.
