Sour Cream Pound Cake

  • Cake:
  • 3 cups sugar (scant)
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1â�„2 cup oil
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1â�„4 cup milk
  • 1â�„2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • Frosting: 
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1â�„2 stick butter
  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • Zest of one lemon and 1 TBS lemon juice
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cream sugar and butter together and add oil. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Mix together sour cream, milk, baking powder and flavoring. Add sour cream mixture alternately with flour into the sugar and butter mixture.
Grease and flour tube pan. Pour cake batter evenly in pan. Bake for 11�2 hours.
Make frosting: Cream together cream cheese and butter. Add sugar, lemon juice and zest. Mix well. Frost cake.
