  • 1 cup butter or vegan butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. hot water
  • 2 1/2 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 12-oz. package semi-sweet chocolate bits or rice milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter in large bowl. Add sugar, brown sugar and eggs, beating until blended. Dissolve baking soda in hot water and add to butter mixture.
Sift flour and salt. Stir into butter mixture. Fold in nuts, chocolate bits and vanilla.
Bake on greased cookie sheets for 10 to 12 minutes.
