  • for the meatballs:
  • 2 slices bread moistened in milk
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1â�„2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1â�„4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 3 TBS corn starch
  • vegetable oil
  • for the sauce:
  • 1â�„2 cup brown sugar
  • 1â�„4 cup soy sauce
  • 1â�„2 cup white vinegar
  • 1â�„2 cup dry sherry
Begin the meatballs by squeezing excess milk from bread. Mix all ingredients together except corn starch and oil. Form into balls. Roll meatballs in cornstarch. Fry in small amount of vegetable oil. Drain on paper towels.
To make the sauce, mix the brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar and sherry together and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve over cooked rice.
