PLAIN POUND CAKE

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 7 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs.
Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
To creamed mixture, mix in alternatively powdered mixture and milk and vanilla.
Pour batter into tube pan. Put in cold oven, turn setting to 325 degrees and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Icing can be spread after cake has cooled.
