Grandma’s Tea Cakes
Contributed by:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream together sugar, shortening, eggs and milk. Sift flour. Add flour and remaining ingredients to shortening mixture. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet or use non-stick foil. Bake until edges are brown (8 or 9 minutes).
Let set on pan for about 1 minute. Cool on wire racks. Store in tightly covered containers, separated with wax paper.
Yield: 4 dozen
