Wacky Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 6 TBS cocoa
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 TBS vinegar
  • 12 TBS oil
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups cold water
  • For the icing:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 stick margarine
  • 1 1/2 TBS flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Make the cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make 3 holes in the mixture. Pour vinegar, oil and vanilla in separate holes. Pour water over top. Mix with a spoon until smooth. Pour until ungreased 9- by 12- by 2-inch pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
Make the icing: Combine all ingredients except the vanilla. Cook at medium heat until thick. Add vanilla, and pour over top of cooled cake.
