Chocolate Cake

  • 12â�„3 cups sifted flour
  • 11â�„2 cups sugar
  • 11â�„4 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1â�„2 cup cocoa
  • 1â�„2 cup soft shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 eggs

Grease and flour 2 8� or 9� layer pans. Sift together into bowl flour, sugar, soda, salt and cocoa. Add shortening, milk and vanilla. Beat for two minutes. Add three eggs; beat two more minutes. Pour mix into prepared pans. Bake 35-40 minutes for 8� layers or 30-35 minutes for 9� layers.
