Popcorn Balls
Desserts
Contributed by: Melody Margrave
Ingredients:
  • 1 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. white vinegar
  • 15 cups popped corn
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • cooking spray
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, water, syrup, vinegar and salt. Cook over high heat until mixture reaches 255 degrees (hard-call stage) on a candy thermometer. Stir in vanilla. Pour over popped corn, tossing gently to coat. When mixture is cool enough to handle, spray hands with cooking spray and press popcorn into 3-inch balls. Cool completely on waxed paper. Makes 16 balls. (Note: Clean up is easier if you spray pot and bowl with cooking spray, too.)
