  • 11â�„2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup prunes, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup pecans and black walnuts, chopped
  • Buttermilk icing:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1â�„2 cup buttermilk
  • 1â�„2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 TBS white corn syrup
  • 1â�„4 - 1â�„2 cup butter
  • 1â�„2 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven at 300 degrees. Grease and flour a large loaf pan.
Blend sugar and oil. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well after each addition. Combine flour, soda, salt and spices. Add milk and dry ingredients alternately into creamed mixture. Add vanilla, prunes and nuts. Pour into loaf pan and bake for one hour. Top with buttermilk icing.

For the icing:
Mix all ingredients together in large saucepan. Cook until forms a soft ball when a drop is tested in cold water, about 10 minutes. Pour icing over cake while hot.
