Red Velvet pound cake

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 ounce red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Cream margarine, shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour and baking powder together and add alternately with milk and red food coloring. Add vanilla and pour into greased and flour tube pan. Bake at 300 degrees for one hour and 20 minutes. Top with cream cheese frosting.
