  • 1 head lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped celery
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped green pepper
  • 11â�„2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 can drained green peas
  • 11â�„2 cups mayonnaise
  • 2 TBS sugar
  • 21â�„2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 strips bacon
Arrange lettuce evenly on bottom of deep bowl. In layers, add celery, green pepper, onion and peas. Spread mayonnaise evenly over peas. Sprinkle with sugar and cheese. Cover and refrigerate at least four hours.
Cook, drain and crumble bacon. Sprinkle over salad before serving.
