POUND CAKE

Ingredients:
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cream butter and shortening; add sugar and mix well. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition. Separate one cup of flour, add the baking powder to the cup of flour and set aside.
Add the remaining two cups of flour to the sugar mixture and mix well.
Alternate adding the milk and final cup of flour with baking powder a little at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add the flavorings and mix well. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake for one hour or until done.
