Another bad day for cases of the coronavirus in Patrick County, with officials revealing 55 more positive tests in the outbreak at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection. Patrick County now has 106 cases, as reported this morning by the Virginia Department of Health, but that likely does not include everything that has been reported at Blue Ridge. There are 18 hospitalized cases in Patrick County. There also were three more hospitalizations this morning in Henry County. The other effect of the virus showed an awful turn this morning when the U.S. economy fell at a record 33% in the latest figures, and unemployment continued to rise. Congress and the White House continue to discuss a stimulus bill as unemployment benefits are scheduled to expire on Friday. Deaths in the U.S. have surpassed 150,000 as of Wednesday, when more than 1,200 were recorded. Cases continue to grow at record pace in some states. The Virginia Department of Health reports this morning reported there have been 88,904 cases and 2,141 deaths statewide. Some 7,786 people have been hospitalized. Henry County has had 467 cases, with 53 hospitalizations and 5 deaths. Martinsville has had 159 cases, with 24 hospitalizations and 3 deaths. Patrick County has had 106 cases including 18 hospitalizations and 3 deaths. Franklin County has had 150 cases, 8 hospitalizations and 1 death. Danville has reported 291 cases, and Pittsylvania County has had 309. Johns Hopkins University's real-time map showed 17,054,819 cases worldwide and 667,707 deaths. In the U.S. there are 4,427,493. There have been 150,716 deaths in the U.S.
