Franklin County now has seen more than 4,000 residents diagnosed with cases of COVID-19. The Virginia Department of Health identified 6 more cases as of 5 p.m. Sunday. There have been 4,003 cases in Franklin County, and Henry County, which reported 4 new cases today, has surpassed 4,500, to 4,502. The two account for nearly 75% of the West Piedmont Health District's 11,429 cases. There were 12 new cases and a new hospitalization -- in Franklin County -- in the data update for the district. Patrick County had the other 2 cases, and Martinsville's data were unchanged. The dozen cases ticks up the 7-day average to 11, but the rate per 100,000 population remained at 7.9.

  • PATRICK COUNTY: 1,341 cases, 103 hospitalizations, 43 deaths
  • FRANKLIN COUNTY: 4,003 cases, 171 hospitalizations, 74 deaths
  • WEST PIEDMONT HEALTH DISTRICT: 11,429 cases, 770 hospitalizations, 314 deaths

Danville reported 4,356 cases (134 deaths), and Pittsylvania County has had 5,496 (78 deaths).
